That is the question that I ask myself every year when it comes to paying for my studies. I cant be objective like someone who wasnt forced to face up such a problem, but let see what are the advantages and disadvantages of free for all university education.
Nowadays everyone knows that finishing high school is not enough. It is very difficult to find job without diploma of prestigious university. That is why so many young people are taking exams to get to the best universities. The level of examinations is going up but limits of places for new students arent. For example at the first year of law at University of Warsaw is four hundred students who don't pay for studies and about one thousand and two hundred of those who must pay. It doesn't mean that the others are less likely to become good lawyers, but still there is too few places for people who want to learn. I believe that everybody should have at least a chance to gain university education. If he or she isnt good enough, probably wont finish studies. On the other hand, maybe too many young people think that studies are just parties. That kind of people should pay for education if it isnt their main goal. What is more, when something is for free, we usually dont precious it that much.
There is no simple answer to the question asked above. But I do have one idea. It would be fair if either university education be free for everybody or everyone should pay money to study. There still stays the possibility that the brightest will get scholarship as a grant for the best results. This way everyone will be happy and well-educated.
